The Pittsburgh Steelers must respond. After a terrible loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Pittsburgh’s home opener, the Yellow & Black are signing a new pass catcher.
Ex-New York Giants receiver Isaiah Hodgins is signing a deal with the Steelers. The details of the contract are not yet released. This is not a season-changing deal for the Steelers, but Hodgins is a respectable receiver who has shown some flashes with the Giants in his short career.
Hodgins was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 6th round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was later waived by the Bills, and the Giants added him to the roster. Hodgins quickly established his presence with 33 catches for 351 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. The following season was not as strong; however, he still caught three touchdowns and had 230 yards on 21 catches. The 26-year-old has over 600 yards in his career with a 10.6 yards per catch average. That will be plenty for Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers if they get that kind of production.
Hodgins did not make the San Francisco 49ers roster despite being on the team during camp.

The Steelers need help at receiver. DK Metcalf is their star receiver after being traded from the Seahawks, but Seattle got the last laugh with a win on Sunday. Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson are the other two starters. Ben Skowronek and Scotty Miller are the backups. As of now, just those five receivers are on the active roster. If Hodgins does eventually join the active roster, look for him to get some playing time almost right away.
The Steelers and New England Patriots will meet in Week 3. This will be a big game for both teams as the Steelers aim to get back on track while the Patriots are hoping to win two straight and become a legit threat in the AFC.
