The Pittsburgh Steelers completed a virtual interview with Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and have scheduled an in-person, second interview with the former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman later this week, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Weaver is one of nine candidates the Steelers have or have requested an interview with, and eight of those nine either have interviewed or have scheduled an interview, as the Steelers coaching search enters its second week. He is the third candidate reported to have an in-person interview scheduled, along with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

The team must wait a week to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula and passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase after the Rams beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday night to advance to the NFC Championship Game.

Weaver faced the Steelers for years as a player and a coach for the Ravens. He was a defensive end for the Ravens from 2002-2005 before playing three seasons with the Houston Texans.

Following his playing career, he served as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida in 2010 and then as a linebackers coach at North Texas in 2011.

Weaver was a defensive line coach for several NFL teams before returning to the Ravens in 2021. He was Baltimore’s defensive line coach and run game coordinator. He was then promoted to assistant head coach in 2022 while still holding the position of DL coach.

Weaver joined Mike McDaniel’s staff in 2024 as Miami’s defensive coordinator. It was the first time that Weaver held a defensive coordinator job.

McDaniel was fired as the Dolphins head coach following the 2025 season, so Weaver’s status with the club is up in the air. The Dolphins have not interviewed Weaver for their vacant head coach position.
