The Pittsburgh Steelers have made several new additions to their offense this season. Former All-Pro Jalen Ramsey was brought in via trade that also imported tight end Jonnu Smith, but sent away star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. And while many are excited about Ramsey, the question was, “Who will replace Fitzpatrick?”
Juan Thornhill has certainly done a tremendous job at making that case for himself. He’s had a tremendous camp thus far, especially over the last two days. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, Thornhill picked off Aaron Rodgers in the two-minute drill. The Super Bowl-winning safety was asked about the potential of the defense today, and he didn’t mince words.
“I think we have a chance to be the best defense of all time – seriously,” Thornhill said.”
And while many will call this an overreaction (and probably rightfully so), the combination of Thornhill’s on-field productivity through camp and his positive attitude about the unit as a whole has been one of the nicest surprises of the last two weeks.
