The Pittsburgh Steelers will be running it back with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback this season, and it will also be his final year as he plans to retire. Rodgers was able to help the Steelers get to the playoffs last season, but some are looking past the success and pointing out some of the flaws of the offense.

Kaboly and Mack recently called out those people who blamed Rodgers for the offense’s shortcomings and praised the quarterback’s IQ instead.

“They didn’t use their primary tight end because they were busy running jet sweeps to Jonnu Smith, who didn’t even know where to line up sometimes,” Mack said. “I think to put that all on Rodgers is a little far-fetched if that’s what you’re trying to do. I think that indicates more of an anti-Rodgers bias.”

“I think people get caught up in the analytics and say time of holding the ball and the length of passes he’s thrown,” Kaboly said. “That’s the one option who had with Gainwell that’s gonna throw those numbers upon. Between the ears, the guy just might be a genius in general, just not football-related. He might be a super genius.”

Is it fair to blame Aaron Rodgers for the #Steelers offensive issues last season? Or does his football IQ more than make up for his physical limitations at this point in his career?

Everyone knows that Rodgers may not be the quarterback that he was years ago, but he still knows how to play the game. It’s also safe to say he may be one of the smartest quarterbacks in the league despite how old he is, which can go a long way at the position.

With the other options they have at quarterback, Rodgers may still be the better choice at this point until someone steps up. Until then, he gives the Steelers the best chance to win, and they have the roster to get back to the playoffs in an attempt to send Rodgers off the right way.
