UNITY TWP, Pa. – Having the chance to learn from a four-time NFL MVP like Aaron Rodgers will only set Will Howard up for success at the pro level, and it’s something he doesn’t take for granted. At the first day training camp practice on Thursday, Howard revealed what he’s learned from the future Hall of Fame quarterback so far.
“I’ve been watching him pretty much…my whole life. There’s a lot of things I’ve picked up from him,” Howard said. “The things he can do with the football in his hands are kind of special. You got to make the best of your situation. I think him being here, for me, is like a dream come true, learning from a guy like that.”
“You see a guy that’s bought in,” Howard added about Rodgers. “He’s sitting around and he’s taking time to sit with his teammates and talk with us — and guys like me — and he just looks happy. He’s got a smile on his face and he’s just been great, man.”
Rodgers also praised Howard during his media availability on Thursday.
“I just like his approach,” Rodgers said about Howard. “He’s a good kid. He cares about it. He works hard. He listens. He’s a good note-taker. He’s been picking my brain. …I want to be a support system for him and pass off anything I can. I don’t want to overstep my bounds, but if he wants to learn anything or pick my brain or be in my hip pocket, I’m all for it.
“He has all of the ability and talent,” Rodgers continued. “When his time comes, I think he’s going to have a great chance to be a long-term guy in the league.”
Howard was selected with the No. 185 overall pick in the sixth round by the Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Howard had an electric senior season, guiding Ohio State to 14 wins and a national title. He delivered standout performances in marquee games against Notre Dame and Oregon, elevating his draft stock and catching the attention of NFL scouts across the league.
Howard began his career at Kansas State, where he started 28 games over three seasons. He threw for 5,786 yards and 67 touchdowns, and accounted for 4,010 yards of total offense. His best season came as a junior, when he led the Wildcats to a Big 12 championship and set the school record for total touchdowns in a season (48).
