One of the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive linemen was sidelined with an injury during the latest training camp practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive tackle Yahya Black is dealing with an injury that caused him to miss practice on Tuesday.

Black was seen wearing street clothes and a huge wrap around his right arm before the last training camp practice at St. Vincent College kicked off.

It’s unclear what exactly the injury is that Black is dealing with, but he has worn a brace on the same arm during recent training camp practices.

The Steelers selected Black with their fifth-round pick (No. 164 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft, and he has impressed.

Black has put his massive 6-foot-6, 336-pound frame on display all camp, seemingly patting down passes every day.

Pittsburgh is hoping Black won’t be sidelined for too long with another chance to see what he can develop into at the next level this weekend during the team’s second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan thinks Black’s upside is limitless.

“He’s great. He’s been what we expect him to be,” Khan said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I think he’s only gonna get better. We feel fortunate that he was still there in the fifth round, and it was easy when we were on the clock.”

Black proved to be a difference maker over the past five years at Iowa, recording 117 tackles (51 solo), 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and nine passes defensed. Early signs hint he could be a force on Pittsburgh’s defensive line for many years to come, too.
