Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin revealed who the team’s starting quarterback will be against the Chicago Bears.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking on the Chicago Bears in Week 12, but head coach Mike Tomlin revealed they will be doing so shorthanded at the most important position.
Just a couple of hours before kickoff, Tomlin shared that the Steelers are starting backup quarterback Mason Rudolph as Aaron Rodgers continues to work his way back from a fractured left wrist, which he suffered late in the first half of their Week 11 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I’ll provide you with complete clarity,” Tomlin said. “He’s not gonna play today. He fought his tail off all week but that’s the prudent play to make for us. So he won’t be playing this week. We’ll let Mason start, and obviously, he’s absorbed most of the reps this week.”

It’s not a surprising decision by Pittsburgh as it knows there is a lot of season still ahead and wants Rodgers to return when he is healthy. However, it will certainly hurt its chances against a hot 7-3 Bears team.
The Steelers will now have to rely on Rudolph once again, but he played quite well in relief of Rodgers last week, throwing for 127 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
Pittsburgh will hope he can pick up right where he left off as it continues to hold its narrow lead in the AFC North.
Rodgers had a questionable tag entering Sunday after practicing in limited fashion on Thursday and Friday. The 41-year-old has thrown for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season.
