The Pittsburgh Steelers released cornerback Mikey Victor in their initial round of roster cuts on Friday. Victor signed with the Steelers on Aug. 12 due to a rash of injuries at the cornerback position.
Cory Trice (hamstring) and rookie Donte Kent (right foot/ankle) missed all three of the team’s preseason games. Cornerback Cameron McCutcheon was also waived with an injury designation after suffering a hamstring injury during the Steelers’ preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Victor was signed in a corresponding move to waiving McCutcheon.
Victor played in three preseason games for the New England Patriots last year, allowing three receptions on seven targets for 33 yards while recording five tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. Victor, who signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft, was released by New England at roster cutdowns in late August.
The Steelers worked out Victor before their Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens in January, but he was not signed. He also participated in the Steelers rookie minicamp back in May, but again, wasn’t signed.
Victor, who’s a Pomona, Calif. native, played his college ball at UNLV and Alabama State. At his pro day, Vcitor measured at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He recorded a 4.67 in the 40-yard dash, a 1.57 in the 10-yard dash, a 6.82 in the 3-Cone drill, and a 10’4″ broad jump.
