The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football in hopes of getting to 6-3 on the season and extending their lead in the AFC North. The Steelers have made a notable release ahead of Week 10, though, letting go of a former third-round pick.

The Steelers announced they have released DeMarvin Leal, the team announced Thursday afternoon. The Steelers took Leal in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In four seasons with the Steelers, he has registered 21 tackles in 31 career games.

With the Steelers adding Nick Herbig to the edge rusher rotation in 2023, and drafting Jack Sawyer this past April, there wasn’t a spot for Leal in the rotation. He was released at the end of the preseason in August before signing with the practice squad a day later. He was elevated to the active roster on September 17th, appearing in three games on special teams.
