The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back a key player in their secondary.
Veteran safety Chuck Clark was among the Pittsburgh Steelers’ final roster cuts on Tuesday afternoon, but his absence from the team will only be capped to about a day.
The Steelers announced that they are re-signing Clark to the active roster after placing rookie quarterback Will Howard and cornerback Donte Kent on injured reserve.

Clark, 30, joined Pittsburgh in July to provide the team with some much needed depth at the position after trading Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins.
He has impressed since, making an impact during training camp and recording six tackles and one for a loss during the preseason. That is why many were shocked to see him as one of the Steelers’ cuts.
However, it seems the move was simply transactional to allow Pittsburgh to avoid using an automatic injured reserve designation on Howard and Kent. Clark did not need to go through waivers as a veteran.
Clark played the last two seasons with the New York Jets. He started 12 games last year after tearing his ACL in the offseason in 2023. He notched 69 combined tackles, two passes defended, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a sack in 2024.
Before his time with the Jets, Clark spent six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He began his NFL career as a sixth-round draft pick in 2017. He joined former Ravens teammates Patrick Queen and DeShon Elliott when he signed with the Steelers last month.
Clark has played in 108 games during his career, starting 75. He has 453 tackles, 4.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 34 passes defensed, five interceptions and one touchdown in his professional career.
