The Pittsburgh Steelers have added running back Jaylen Warren to their injury list for tonight’s Week 15 home game against the Miami Dolphins.

Warren is now questionable to play with an illness, the team announced on Monday. The club’s starting running back, Warren practiced all week without issue, but was a late add to the injury list.

Warren will be replaced in the starting lineup by Kenneth Gainwell. Gainwell and Warren have split time for the Steelers all season, with Warren rushing 159 times for 652 yards and Gainwell rushing 80 times for 371 yards.

Gainwell has primarily played on third downs and in no-huddle situations, while Warren has gotten the bulk of the playing time on first and second downs.

Rookie third-round pick Kaleb Johnson will likely pick up some of Warren’s early down work, to spell Gainwell.

The Steelers have just three running backs on their active roster, though tight end Connor Heyward played the position in college and has taken an occasional snap there in the NFL.

If Warren is unable to play and the Steelers want to call up a running back from the practice squad, Lew Nichols is the lone option.
