The Pittsburgh Steelers have a need at cornerback entering the 2025 offseason, and Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports sees them addressing that weakness with their No. 21 overall pick in April’s 2025 NFL Draft. In his mock draft posted on Wednesday, Trapasso predicted that Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin will select Notre Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison.
Steelers cornerbacks Donte Jackson, Cam Sutton and James Pierre are all set to become free agents this March, leaving the Steelers with a need opposite 2023 second-round pick Joey Porter jR.
Morrison officially declared for the draft Thursday. He wasn’t able to play for the Fighting Irish in their College Football Playoff national title game loss to Ohio State, missing a good portion of the season due to a hip injury suffered in October. Before that, Morrison had posted 20 total tackles and three passes defended this season.

“Benjamin Morrison is simply too sudden for the Steelers to pass on him here,” Trapasso said. “He’ll be an instant starter in Pittsburgh across from Joey Porter Jr.”
Morrison is the fourth cornerback off the board in Trapasso’s mock draft, after Colorado’s Travis Hunter (New England, No. 4 overall), Michigan’s Will Johnson (Jacksonville, No. 5), and Texas’ Jahdae Barron (Denver, No. 20). The other first-rounder Trapasso had at the position was East Carolina’s Shavon Revel Jr. (Minnesota, No. 24), who also dealt with a season-altering injury this go-round.
Bleacher Report has compared Morrison to Miami Dolphins veteran coverman Kendall Fuller. Morrison had six interceptions as a freshman in 2022, returning one 97 yards. He had three picks as a sophomore, the same campaign that he was tasked with checking then-Ohio State standout Marvin Harrison Jr. Morrison’s battle with the future No. 4 overall draft pick helped solidify him as one of the best at his position on the college level.
