UNITY TWP, Pa. – Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith again only did stretching and light work before Friday’s practice. Running back/return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson also did not practice for the second consecutive day.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Smith was day-to-day after Thursday’s practice. The specific issue was not revealed. Likewise for Patterson.

Smith has previously worked with Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Tennessee and Atlanta. After spending a season in Miami, he was traded as he sought a new deal with the Dolphins.
The value Smith brings to the offense is predicated on the high usage of tight ends by Arthur Smith. Smith’s pass-catching abilities made him an asset in his previous season, especially last season in Miami.
Through his first eight seasons, the former FIU standout has accumulated 307 receptions for 3307 yards and 28 touchdowns. His best season was last year with the Dolphins. His Pro Bowl season included 88 catches for 884 yards and eight touchdowns.
The Steelers placed starting left guard Isaac Seumalo on the non-football injury list, Tomlin announced on Wednesday after the team reported to training camp at St. Vincent College.
Seumalo is dealing with a soft-tissue injury that Tomlin said could slow him down at the start of training camp.
Seumalo is the only Steelers players that was not healthy enough to complete the team’s run test and pre-camp physicals on Wednesday. Tomlin also said that all 91 players on his team’s offseason roster have reported to camp.
