One of the Pittsburgh Steelers key players on defense reveals he was a fan of quarterback Aaron Rodgers growing up.

PITTSBURGH — Everyone seems to be split on whether the Pittsburgh Steelers should still sign quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But if it were up to Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Queen, Rodgers would likely be wearing the black and gold in 2025.

“The little fan in me when I was little was a fan of Aaron Rodgers,” Queen said during the first day of OTAs.

Rodgers must first agree to joining Pittsburgh, which he has yet to do, at least publicly. Luckily for the Steelers, some believe that decision is coming very soon.

Pittsburgh’s quarterback room is arguably the worst in the NFL right now with just Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard, the team’s sixth-round pick, under contract. So Rodgers would give it the boost it needs as a four-time NFL MVP.

The 41-year-old isn’t the same player he used to be, but he was still a starting-capable quarterback in 2024, completing 368 of 584 passes (63%) for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with the New York Jets.

However, the belief in Rudolph seems to be picking up some steam as well. Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth expressed his faith in the former third-round pick.

“I love Mason,” Freiermuth said. “He’s a hell of a guy, a hell of a teammate, great locker room guy.”

Queen joined him in that sentiment shortly after.

“I’m fine with the guys we got right now,” Queen said. “I would rock out with them.”

Only time will tell how the Rodgers saga will play out, but many of Pittsburgh’s players, including Queen, seem to be prepared for any scenario with the 2025 season inching closer.
