There is growing belief that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to add one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ former playmakers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still looking to add another wide receiver since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Many are starting to believe that will come in the form of one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ former teammates.

Pro Football Sports Network predicts the Steelers will trade for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“The Green Bay Packers have a notably crowded wide receiver room, and they spent early picks on Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the 2025 NFL Draft. Even after Christian Watson’s ACL injury, Green Bay’s investment in new talent, combined with the development of Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks, puts Romeo Doubs’ roster spot in jeopardy as he enters the final year of his rookie contract,” PFSN wrote. “With Doubs’ production, youth, and manageable $3.5 million cap hit, he could be a logical target given Pittsburgh’s $32.2 million in cap space. His familiarity with Aaron Rodgers could provide added chemistry for a revamped offense.”

The Steelers already reportedly inquired about Doubs’ availability in May. However, no deal came close to happening during the early stages of the offseason. That could soon change, though.

The 25-year-old could very likely find himself on the outside looking in. If that’s the case, Pittsburgh should jump at the opportunity to land him.

Doubs has recorded 147 catches for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns through the first three years of his NFL career. His best season came in 2023 when he had a career-high 59 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

The former fourth-round pick does come with some injury concerns, having played in just 13 games in two of his three NFL seasons. But he could be worth the gamble, just maybe not at a third-round pick price tag.

Doubs could prove to be the perfect complement to wide receiver DK Metcalf in Pittsburgh, standing at 6-foot-2, 204 pounds. So the Steelers should continue to monitor the Packers’ wide receiver situation as the summer progresses.
