There is a growing belief the Pittsburgh Steelers could still add to their quarterback room this offseason.
The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have a very full quarterback room with Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar. However, NFL analyst Steve Palazzolo seems to think they could still add to it this offseason.
Palazzolo recently predicted the Steelers to select quarterback Brendan Sorsby in this year’s NFL Supplemental Draft.
“I’ll say Pittsburgh in the third [round],” Palazzolo said on his Check The Mic podcast. “Pittsburgh is the most obvious one for me, even though they already have Will Howard and Drew Allar. There is a point where you can’t really carry three developmental quarterbacks and they may have just said, ‘We’re out on Will Howard.’ Maybe Mike McCarthy and staff is like, ‘We don’t believe in Will Howard’ already, or they saw Drew Allar in camp and it’s like, ‘This is a much bigger project than we thought.'”
Sorsby has certainly been a controversial topic as of late. After announcing his plan to return to college football in 2026, his gambling issues surfaced and he was stripped of his NCAA eligibility.
Since then, there’s been an ongoing legal battle, but he recently surrended his hand and announced he is applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft.
It would be hard to believe there are zero teams interested in Sorsby, especially because he was regarded as a first-round talent last season while throwing for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and just five interceptions, leading the Big 12 with a 13.5 yards-per-completion average.
However, now the question is what draft capital teams would be willing to give up in the 2027 NFL Draft to land him in the Supplemental Draft.
A third-round pick certainly seems a bit rich for the Steelers, who already have four quarterbacks on their roster, but there could be a scenario that they underwhelm this summer and the team opts to take another shot at the position.
The Steelers have reportedly done their homework on Sorsby, but only time will tell how much he is actually on their radar.
In April, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer named the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins as teams “that have kept the powder dry on really going all in on a quarterback in anticipation of next year.”
