The NFL playoffs could soon have Aaron Rodgers back. Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers have control of their fate regarding their chances to join the fray in the NFL postseason, as they are currently ahead of all their rivals in the AFC North.
They strengthened their grip on the top spot of their division despite the Baltimore Ravens’ win over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15 on Sunday, as the Steelers took down the Miami Dolphins on Monday to the tune of a 28-15 score.
With three more weeks left in the 2025 campaign, the Steelers have an 8-6 record, while the Ravens are at 7-7. It is also important to note that Pittsburgh and Baltimore are the only AFC North teams still in contention for a spot in the playoffs, as the Bengals and the Cleveland Browns have already been eliminated.
Given the current landscape this late in the season, the Steelers have a 66.0 percent chance of making a playoff landing, according to the NFL Projection Model of The Athletic’s Austin Mock. It’s the same odds the model is giving Pittsburgh to win the division.
Pittsburgh’s victory certainly made it harder for the Ravens to make the playoffs, while also eliminating the Dolphins from the postseason picture.
Through 15 weeks, the Steelers are fourth overall in the AFC playoff picture, behind the 12-2 Denver Broncos, 11-3 New England Patriots and the 10-4 Jacksonville Jaguars. Odds are stacked against the Steelers leaping past the Jaguars at least, considering the number of games left, but crazier things have happened in the NFL.
The Steelers don’t have any playoff clinching scenarios in Week 16, and they will also have a tough assignment for that week, as Pittsburgh continue to play meaningful games.
Up next for Pittsburgh is a showdown against Drake Maye and the New England Patriots, who are eager to return to their winning ways after suffering a stunning loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills in Week 15.
