The Pittsburgh Steelers are moving on from one of their rookie wide receivers ahead of their preseason finale.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are parting ways with one of their promising rookie wide receivers, despite still looking to establish a clear No. 2 option at the position.

The team announced on Monday that it’s releasing rookie wide receiver Roc Taylor as part of several roster moves.

Taylor, an undrafted free agent in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Memphis, has shown promise this summer, stacking several impressive practices at training camp. He believed he was finally starting to hit his stride, too.

“Things are slowing down, for sure,” Taylor said. “Just trying to pick up the offense and learn the splits and terminology that they use. So it’s starting to slow down for me a lot.”

However, Taylor’s preseason action has left much to be desired.

Over the past two weeks, Taylor has recorded just five catches for 77 yards on eight targets against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Taylor’s limited preseason production could also be a product of poor quarterback play.

Pittsburgh signed veteran quarterback Logan Woodside to fill in for injured rookie Will Howard this preseason, and he has struggled while throwing for 45 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception.

However, the Steelers have decided they have seen enough from the rookie.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Taylor racked up 163 receptions for 2,375 yards and seven touchdowns during his four years at Memphis.
