Nick Herbig recently received a big payday. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ outside linebacker has 16 career sacks over three seasons, but he believes he should have at least one more.
When teammate T.J. Watt became the second-fastest player to notch 100 sacks — beating out Pro Football Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware — during a primetime matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, Herbig was also in on the play
“He probably doesn’t watch your show, because he’s not a real supporter,” Herbig joked on Cam Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast. “But, if he does watch this, I hope he doesn’t get mad because he’s gonna have to remember me forever because his 100th sack, against the Cowboys, was my sack, and they gave it to him. I didn’t even get half.”
On the same play, before Herbig met Watt at Dak Prescott and recovered a fumble, Herbig tried an inside spin move on left tackle Tyler Guyton, but ran into Heyward. Herbig pushed off Heyward, who fell into Montravius Adams.
“I mean, I spun (and) you’re right there,” Herbig said. “You didn’t get hurt, you almost got hurt. … I literally got the ball. We’re celebrating and Cam’s like cussing me out. I’m like, ‘Bro, we got the ball! We’re good!’ He’s like, ‘Nah, bro! You could’ve hurt me!”
Herbig signed a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Steelers last week.
