The Pittsburgh Steelers are being connected to a speedy wide receiver in the trade market. With the New Orleans Saints sitting at 1-6 entering the final week of October, teams are circling around wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, and one NFL analyst thinks the Steelers would be a great fit.
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert, now of The Dime Lab, things that Shaheed would be a perfect fit in the Pittsburgh wide receivers corps.
“Shaheed to Pittsburgh as their speedster could be crazy,” Benkert wrote on X.

The Steelers have been in the market for a wide receiver since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in May, and have specifically been looking for an outside receiver that can stretch the field or create easy separation — skillsets lacking among their current group behind DK Metcalf.
Shaheed is one of the fastest offensive players in the league, having hit 21.72 miles per hour on a Week 5 touchdown this season. That’s the sixth-fastest mark for an ballcarrier this season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Shaheed also has the 12th-fastest play of the season, from Week 4.
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound receiver, Shaheed has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Saints, where he signed as an undrafted free agent out of Weber State in 2022.
Despite his undrafted status, Shaheed made an impact as a rookie, starting six games and recording 488 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He had his best season in 2023, when he caught 46 passes for 719 yards and five scores. He was also an All-Pro as a punt returner that season, with a 13.6 yards per return average and one touchdown.
A meniscus injury limited him to six games in 2024. Before the injury, he posted a career high with 17.5 yards per reception, but he finished with just 349 yards and three touchdowns on the season. He also retuned another punt for a touchdown.
So far this season, Shaheed has caught 26 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns, and is the Saints’ clear No. 2 wide receiver behind Chris Olave.
The Saints signed Shaheed to a one-year, $5.2 million contract last offseason, meaning he will be a free agent next March, and the rebuilding Saints could be looking to recoup some draft capital for Shaheed instead of losing him for nothing next year.
