The Pittsburgh Steelers could bolster their wide receiver room ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are believed to be buyers at the NFL trade deadline with still a clear need at wide receiver, and they were just been named the favorites to land one of the top playmakers that could potentially be available.
Bookies.com has given the Steelers a 25% chance (+300 odds) to land Tennessee Titans veteran wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
“Pittsburgh needs help at wide receiver, and acquiring Ridley would give QB Aaron Rodgers a pair of sure hands to catch touchdowns as the Steelers try to win the AFC North,” Adam Martin of Bookies.com wrote. “They have the draft capital the Titans would require in a trade if they decide to move Ridley, making Pittsburgh a natural trade partner for a potential transaction.”
Ridley, 30, is having a rough start to his 2025 campaign with just 16 catches for 290 yards and zero touchdowns. Things aren’t going any better for the Titans, either, as they sit in last place in the AFC South at 1-7.
If Tennessee hopes to continue building with young players around No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward, moving on from Ridley could make sense.
Ridley began his career as the No. 26 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He spent the first four years of his career in Atlanta, where he racked up 248 receptions for 3,342 yards and 28 touchdowns, before being dealt to the Jacksonville Jaguars at the trade deadline in 2022.
He could not play during the 2022 season as he was serving an indefinite suspension for betting on games in the previous season, but he was later reinstated for the 2023 season.
Ridley was able to pick up right where he left off, recording 76 catches for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns with the Jaguars, but Jacksonville wasn’t willing to give him the payday he was looking for after the season.
The Titans were, however, as they handed him a four-year, $92 million deal. He played up to that contract last season with 64 catches for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns on the year. The same cannot be said for this season, though.
Ridley still has two years left on his contract but has a potential out in 2026, according to Spotrac.
The Buffalo Bills (+350) and New England Patriots (+450) are the next-best favorites to land the former first-round pick.
