PITTSBURGH — DK Metcalf momentarily exited Sunday’s loss against the Chicago Bears, but returned to play the rest of the game. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ No. 1 receiver is still dealing with the effects of that ankle injury.

“A couple of guys that are managing some in-game things from last week that may be limited at the early portions of the week — and we’ll see where their participation leads — Joey Porter with a hip, DK Metcalf got his ankle rolled, but he was able to finish,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday. “But again, certainly, we’ll probably limit him at the early portions of the week. And the same thing for Ben Skowronek with a shoulder.”

Metcalf missed a lot of the drive during which he headed to the sideline, first heading into the blue medical tent, then testing the extent of the injury by jogging and moving laterally. He’d scored the Steelers’ first touchdown of the day earlier on.

The Steelers added former Green Bay Packers receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling earlier this month, but have yet to add him to the active roster. If the wideout room is shallow heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Buffalo Bills, he might have to be an option.
