Steelers miss out on Jakobi Meyers trade

The Pittsburgh Steelers have long been rumored to be interested in trading for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. However, the 1,000-yard receiver will not end up in a Steelers uniform. Instead, the Raiders have shipped him to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Raiders are trading WR Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round picks,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. “Multiple teams including the Steelers and Jaguars had shown interest in Meyers, who is scheduled to become a free agent after his contract expires this season.”

As Schefter notes, the Steelers were interested in making the trade, but were beat out by Jacksonville, who now adds Meyers to a receiving room that features Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter, once the latter gets back from IR.

The Steelers will now have to turn their attention to other available pass-catchers ahead of the 4:00 EST deadline.
