The Cincinnati Bengals announced some good news on Monday, both for themselves and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback Joe Burrow is on track to make his return from a turf toe injury against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

“The #Bengals anticipate Joe Burrow starting on Thursday night — on Thanksgiving — vs. the Ravens, per HC Zac Taylor,” NFL reporter Ari Meirov wrote Monday on X. “Burrow missed nine games with a toe injury — and Cincinnati went 1-8.”

The Steelers and Ravens are currently tied for the AFC North lead. The Steelers and Bengals both face the Ravens twice down the stretch.

The Bengals’ only win without Burrow was on a Thursday night against the Steelers last month. That, of course, was after Taylor’s team traded for veteran passer Joe Flacco, a move that, from the Cleveland Browns’ perspective, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin didn’t understand.

“To be honest, it was shocking to me,” Tomlin said. “Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening day starter to a divisional opponent that’s hurting in that area.”

Burrow confirmed Monday’s news, as well, posting an old photo on Instagram of himself wearing a LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers jersey. “He’s back,” the Snapchat message on the picture said.

In two games before getting injured, Burrow had gone 21 for 36 through the air for 189 yards and two touchdowns. He’s 40-30-1 as a starter during his six-year NFL career. According to Statmuse, the Bengals are 7-16 without Burrow since drafting him No. 1 overall in 2020.
