The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to have missed their chance of landing a legitimate No. 2 wide receiver.

It’s no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers are still in need of another wide receiver since trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Unfortunately, yet another option is now off the board.

During the Miami Dolphins 27-21 win over the New York Jets in Week 4, five-time first-team All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a season-ending injury.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Hill tore multiple ligaments in his dislocated knee, including his ACL. He will have surgery to repair his injury on Tuesday and there’s no guarantee he’ll even be ready for the 2026 season.

It’s a brutal blow to the Dolphins, who have struggled out the gate with a 1-3 start, and the Steelers, who have been reportedly paying close attention to Hill’s situation.

In fact, multiple teams have been monitoring Hill’s availability as he is coming off his first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019. He recorded 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown before suffering his serious injury this season.

Only time will tell what Hill’s future will hold in Miami, but he seemed to be seeking a trade following the team’s 8-9 campaign last season.

“I don’t even know, bruh,” Hill told Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. “This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, man, so, I mean, for me, I’ve just got to do what’s best for me and my family. If that’s here, or wherever the case may be, I’m [about to] open that door for myself. …

“Yeah, I’m opening the door — I’m out, bruh. So, it was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I’ve got to do what’s best for my career and what’s best — because I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

However, if Pittsburgh wants to add another playmaker to quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ arsenal of weapons, it will now have to look elsewhere.

A fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, Hill has recorded 819 catches for 11,363 yards and 83 touchdowns in his 10-year NFL career.
