PITTSBURGH — Following a Jordan Love incompletion in the second quarter, Pittsburgh Steelers depth defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale was slow to get up. He walked off the field under his own power, then entered the blue medical tent on the sideline.
He was soon announced as doubtful, then out for the rest of the game against the Green Bay Packers with a knee injury.
Joey Porter Jr. blanketed Romeo Doubs on the play, with the latter spilling to the ground in what looked like an attempt to draw a pass interference penalty on the former, who was called for that infraction twice in the Steelers’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ekuale headed to the locker room after exiting the tent while officials deliberated on Alex Highsmith’s third-down hit on Love.
Ekuale, a seventh-year pro, spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots. He began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2019, then spent the next campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s played in each of the Steelers’ seven games this go-round, registering six combined tackles, a pass defended and a quarterback hit.
Yahya Black will fill in for Ekuale if he doesn’t get back on the field for the primetime home matchup.
