Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, itβs whether the team will be looking for a new stadium when their least expires after the 2030 season.
Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro told reporters on Sunday that the state does not think funding new stadiums for the Pittsburgh (2031) and Philadelphia Eagles (2033) when their current leases expire should be a priority.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has been publicly noncommittal about whether the Eagles will pursue a new stadium when their lease expires. Steelers president Art Rooney II has said he expects his team to extend its lease and remain at Acrisure Stadium beyond 2023.
Alan breaks it down.
