BALTIMORE — Trying to stop former teammate Derrick Henry on Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Malik Harrison absorbed the brunt of the bruising Baltimore Ravens tailback’s momentum on a 9-yard second-quarter pickup.
Harrison laid motionless on the ground for a moment before getting to his knees and walking off the field under his own power. Harrison headed straight for the blue medical tent to be checked for a concussion once he reached the sideline. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Cole Holcomb replaced Harrison on the field. Harrison entered the matchup having played in six games for the Steelers this season. He totaled 24 tackles, including one for loss, during that span.
Harrison played for the Ravens for the first five seasons of his NFL career. He signed with the Steelers as a free agent this offseason. In black and gold, he was excited to face off with Lamar Jackson and Henry.
“He surprised me every day,” Harrison said of Jackson during his introductory Steelers press conference in March. “You know, he do things that you don’t think that a person can do. … Going against them in practice every day, you can’t do too much because you don’t wanna mess with church money. But, now me being on the other side, I can really just unleash, dominate how I know I can.”
