The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a busy offseason, hiring Mike McCarthy to be their new head coach and reuniting him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who signed on for one more year. The Steelers are hoping to make another push for the playoffs this season, with some floating them as a potential landing spot for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Two people not on board with that idea are Steelers legends Joe Haden and James Harrison, who recently took to the Deebo & Joe podcast to relay their thoughts.
“I do not think that [Aiyuk] understands the ramifications of what he’s doing,” Harrison said, per Andrew Vasquez of Steelers Wire. “And I don’t even know, I hate to say it, if he’ll have a chance to make up from this if he doesn’t stop. … Like, [there’s] nobody that is going to take a chance on that, man. You are ruining your whole possibility of continuing your career.”
Over the past few weeks, Aiyuk has been routinely taking to social media to put the Steelers on blast and reiterate his desire to join the Washington Commanders, whether that’s through a trade or a release from Pittsburgh followed by a free agent signing.
“It’s one second to tear down 10 years of credibility,” Haden said. The duo also titled their latest YouTube video, “This Man is Wylin’.”
When he’s been on the field, Aiyuk has been an elite wide receiver for the 49ers, but he missed the entire 2025 season due to a devastating knee injury suffered the prior year, and it remains to be seen what kind of player he will be upon his return.
Clearly, Haden and Harrison do not approve of the way he’s been handling his discontent with the 49ers this offseason.
