Former Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame cornerback Mel Blount showed off his morning workout routine in a social media post.
James Harrison isn’t the only retired Pittsburgh Steelers defender who is showing off his workout routines. On Thursday, four-time Super Bowl Champion Mel Blount showed off his morning routine and workout.

The Steelers have had some notable former players post strong workout routines. Blount joined those former players with his post that read:
“Mel Blount rips through a workout at 77. Every morning starts with 5am workout. Here he shreds through one of his favorite exercises: double-loaded band squats. Long after hanging up the cleats, Mel still trains like he’s gearing up for game day. Discipline doesn’t retire.”
Blount is one of the most prominent faces of the Steelers franchise. Not only did he play for the Steel Curtain defense, his play changed the rules of the NFL.
“They really were trying to legislate the game to slow the Steelers down, especially on defense, because we were basically dominating the game.” Blount told NFL Network back in 2006. He also said this in the 1978 Steelers episode of America’s Game.
At 77-years-old, he might be ready to take the field still. He was vocal over the state of the Steelers going into the offseason–he declared the team had “a lot of needs.” He might be gearing up to play a few more downs.
Blount was a third-round pick in 1970. He played his entire career in Pittsburgh until retiring in 1984 with four Super Bowl rings. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
