Pittsburgh Steelers legend James Harrison has never been shy to speak his mind, and he did not hold back on Mike Tomlin during a recent appearance on the Why Willie Show with former Steelers teammate Willie Colon. Harrison thinks his former coach has to take the brunt of the blame for the Steelers’ five-game losing streak to end the season and the eight-year playoff win drought.

“If I’m the head coach of a football team and I’ve been the head coach of this football team for however long that’s been, and now the team’s not doing well — that all has to fall on my shoulders,” Harrison said.

“Because I’ve been here long enough to be able to draft who I want and put the guys in the positions that I need. For me to be like, ‘I haven’t been (able to) get this or get that.’ Well, I’m the guy who’s supposed to be getting that. And I’ve been here long enough to get it.”

Harrison thinks the standard in Pittsburgh ha simply been lost.

“It’s not what you’re used to. The standard is the standard. It feels like a saying now. It’s not something you actually see,” he said.

Former Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden also mentioned that standard in Pittsburgh hasn’t been the same recently.

“We gotta get better with the players. We gotta get better with the coaching,” Harrison said.

Harrison called out the defensive game plan in the Steelers’ Wild Card loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Derrick Henry finished with 186 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He’s averaged a whopping 7.2 yards per carry. Overall, the Ravens rushed for 299 yards.

“At what point are we going to stop having our OLB crash down and let them play backer force?” Harrison wrote on X.
