Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen received a prestigious honor in his hometown of Pointe Coupee Parish, La. Livonia High School, where Queen graduated from, named their high school stadium after him.
The new Patrick Queen Stadium will be used for both Livonia High School and the STEM Magnet Academy of Pointe Coupee.
“It’s crazy knowing kids now will be able to come on this field and see my name,” Queen told WBRZ. “It’s crazy, growing up in this parish, seeing the football players before me really motivated me and wanted me to play better. Now I’ll just be able to be one of the faces that they kids look up to now.”
Queen’s college head coach at LSU, Ed Orgeron, was in attendance for the ceremony.

Queen has played at a high level through four games. Queen led all Steelers players in pass rush grade in Week 4, according to Pro Football Focus. He also had the highest tackling grade among Steelers players in Week 2.
Queen recorded 10+ tackles in back-to-back weeks. In the Week 3 win over New England, he racked up 10 tackles (6 solo) and one tackle for loss. In last Sunday’s win over Minnesota, Queen had 11 tackles (8 solo), one sack, three tackles for loss and one quarterback hit. The Week 4 performance was probably the best of his career as a Steeler.
Steelers strong safety DeShon Elliott had an interception — almost two — and a sack against the Vikings in his return from a sprained MCL. Queen noticed better communication with Elliott back in the fold.
“The biggest part is trusting everyone around us. I think that’s the biggest message,” Queen said. “When we trust each other, we go out there and make plays. The communication early, it was phenomenal. When we communicate at a high level, and we trust each other on the field, and we do everything that we do, there’s nobody that can stop us.
“You’ve got to pressure folks. If you sit back in coverage all day, whether its man or zone, you’re get eaten alive. Being able to switch it up, bring people from different places, just using the guys that’s around, is gonna be huge for us, especially down the stretch in December football, trying to stop the run, those blitzes are going to be crucial.”
