The Pittsburgh Steelers land their potential quarterback of the future on Day 2 in the latest mock draft.

It’s no secret the Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up to select a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, while many believe they will try to land the future of their franchise in the first round, the latest mock draft thinks otherwise.

In A to Z Sports latest mock draft, it has the Steelers selecting Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion with their first-round pick with Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore off the board.

“The Steelers took a step in the right direction this year, but their WR room still needs multiple additions,” A to Z Sports wrote. “DK Metcalf is a great start, and Concepcion’s skill set complements his perfectly. That would give Aaron Rodgers and whoever takes over at QB after him a great duo to mold their passing game around.”

Concepcion would be a great first-round selection after he recorded 61 catches for a career-high 919 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.

However, there’s also no denying Pittsburgh’s obvious need at quarterback and Alabama’s Ty Simpson, who some have pegged as a first-round talent, was still available for the taking.

Instead, the Steelers land another playmaker as well as Georgia offensive tackle Monroe Freeling in the second round before addressing quarterback.

With Pittsburgh’s third-round pick, the team finally selects Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who may be the draft’s most intriguing player.

Chambliss spent the first four seasons of his collegiate career at Ferris State before transferring to Ole Miss in 2025.

The 23-year-old led Ole Miss to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, before the Rebels’ season ended on Thursday night in a 31-27 loss to Miami at the Fiesta Bowl. He threw for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns and just three interceptions while also rushing for 527 yards and eight more scores.

Chambliss wanted to return to college for a sixth season, but the NCAA denied his waiver request on Friday. Now he could instead end up declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, and there’s no reason the Steelers shouldn’t be interested.

There is still a lot of time between now and April for Chambliss’ draft stock to change or for him to earn another year of eligibility from an appeal, but in a draft that is no longer bolstered at the position, taking a flyer on Chambliss could certainly be an intriguing move.

Chambliss will have to make a final decision on his draft eligibility by Feb. 7, the last day for him to opt out of the 2026 NFL Draft.
