The Pittsburgh Steelers finally land their long-term answer at quarterback in the latest 2026 NFL mock draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made it very clear that they are planning to draft a quarterback early in the 2026 NFL Draft as they have begun stockpiling picks. That’s why Matt Miller of ESPN has the Steelers doing exactly that in his latest mock draft.
Miller has Pittsburgh selecting South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers with the No. 16 overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
“Sellers is one of the nation’s most exciting prospects, as he threw for 18 touchdowns to seven interceptions last season while rushing for 674 yards and seven scores,” Miller writes. “The 6-foot-3, 242-pounder is big, strong and mobile and could be picked way before this if he cleans up some decision-making mistakes. With two years of eligibility following next season, Sellers is no lock to be in the draft, but his potential excites evaluators.”
Sellers is still very young. He just turned 20 last month, but there’s no doubt that he put the NFL on notice in his first year as a starter, especially behind an offensive line that allowed a 42.5% pressure rate.
The biggest question is if Sellers will even fall that far if he does declare for the 2026 NFL Draft.
It’s fair to assume the Steelers won’t have a top 10 pick, which is where Sellers could ultimately be drafted, since they have never had a losing season under head coach Mike Tomlin.
That doesn’t mean Pittsburgh won’t be willing to go get him if he’s its guy, though. The team is currently projected to have 12 picks in next year’s draft — plenty of ammo to make a trade up.
A lot can still happen between now the 2026 NFL Draft, which will take place in Pittsburgh, but Sellers is certainly an option to be the Steelers’ long-term answer at quarterback.
