Steelers Land Familiar Playmaker in Latest Mock Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers are predicted to land Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka in the latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already been predicted to land several different playmakers in the 2025 NFL Draft, but one name seems to be linked to them more than any other — Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.

That is no different in the latest mock draft by Pro Football Focus, which has the Steelers selecting the former Buckeye at No. 21 overall.

“No matter who is behind the center for the Steelers in 2025, the team needs help at wide receiver,” Jordan Plocher of PFF writes. “Egbuka had two 1,000-yard receiving seasons at Ohio State, and while he primarily lined up in the slot, he has shown he can play outside, as well.”

Egbuka is the second wide receiver selected in Plocher’s mock draft, behind only Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan, who is taken at No. 8 overall by the Carolina Panthers.

The 22-year-old has been arguably the most popular name tabbed to the Steelers in this year’s draft, and rightfully so.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound wide receiver showcased his reliable hands with just a 2.8 percent drop rate. He also recorded a career-high 81 catches for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior on Ohio State’s national championship-winning team.

Egbuka could prove to be exactly what the Steelers have been missing on offense, drawing comparisons to Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, a two-time first-team Associated Press All-Pro.

If Egbuka turns out to be anything like St. Brown, who has amassed 430 catches for 4,851 yards and 33 touchdowns through the first four years of his NFL career, the Steelers would be lucky to land him at No. 21 overall.

The Steelers haven’t drafted a wide receiver in the first round since 2006, but that was an Ohio State’s Santonio Holmes, who was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII after playing a pivotal role in the team’s championship run.

A lot can still change between now and the 2025 NFL Draft, which will kick off the first round on April 24, but the idea of Egbuka joining the Steelers makes more and more sense every day.
