The Pittsburgh Steelers made a somewhat surprising move to both the media and fans when they released wide receiver Roc Taylor on Monday afternoon. The undrafted free agent out of Memphis had a very good training camp, and caught five passes for 77 yards through two preseason games. The move, though, looks as if it was done for another move that could be announced in the coming days, as Gabe Davis is flying to Pittsburgh for another visit.

“Former Jaguars and Bills WR Gabe Davis is flying back to Pittsburgh today and is scheduled to visit the Steelers on Tuesday for a second time this off-season, per source,” Adam Schefter reports. “Steelers continue seeking WR help.”

Davis visited the Steelers back in June, but left without a deal. He remains a free agent after a down year with the Jaguars. Davis revealed, though, he had been playing hurt most of the season. When healthy, he is a great run blocker and a reliable, tall vertical threat – a perfect fit for Arthur Smith’s offense.

Davis was a steward of the Buffalo Bills from 2020-23. In that span, he caught 27 touchdowns from Josh Allen.
