The Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Green Bay Packers this season has been named one of the top 10 games of the 2025 NFL season.
According to Kevin Patra of NFL.com, the Steelers-Packers tilt, which is slated to be played in Pittsburgh this year, is the No. 10 game on the entire 2025 NFL docket.
Much of the intrigue surrounds the potential for Aaron Rodgers to face his former team for the first time. The Steelers have and Rodgers have had a very public flirtation, but have not yet agreed to a contract for the 41-year-old veteran to play in Pittsburgh this coming season.
If he does, that would certainly make the game against the Packers must see TV. Rodgers made 241 starts in 248 games for the Packers from 2005-22. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in yards per game, completion percentage, passer rating and adjusted net yards per attempt.
Rodgers left Green Bay in 2023, spending the last two seasons with the New York Jets, but he’s never played against his former club.
Matchups between the Steelers and Packers are rare. The teams have played just three times since Rodgers led the Packers over the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV in 2013. The Steelers beat the Packers in Pittsburgh in 2017 and 2023. Rodgers led the Packers to a win over the Steelers in Green Bay in 2021.
The game between the Steelers and Packers has been widely speculated as one of the options for the Steelers to play in Dublin, Ireland next fall. The date and opponent for that game has not been made official by the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks are other options for the Steelers to play in Ireland.
The Buffalo Bills hosting the Kansas City Chiefs is the top game on the NFL.com list, followed by Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills to round out the top five.
