One of the biggest pieces of business for Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan this offseason is figuring out what to do with the contract of wide receiver George Pickens.

Khan addressed this when he spoke to the media, he said he had talked with Pickens and said all the right things about Pickens and his desire to be great with the Steelers.

“I had a really solid exit meeting with GP and I can tell you that he has a desire to be great,” Khan said. “He has a desire to be great here. We have a desire for him to be great and to be great here. We’ll see with respect to the contract, you know, we won’t discuss that publicly and usually those things are addressed at a later date.”

There’s no denying Pickens’ talent but his maturity and consistency are serious concerns with a new contract on the horizon. Hopefully, the Steelers can improve around Pickens this offseason to help him maximize his potential but at the same time not commit to him longterm without knowing if he can grow up more as a person and in turn a better player.
