On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan addressed the media from Indianapolis and the NFL scouting combine. As expected, the hot topic was the Steelers quarterback position where all three of last year’s quarterbacks are set to hit free agency in a few weeks.
Khan stressed that the team understands how important the quarterback position is and said that in a perfect world, the Steelers would bring one of their quarterbacks from last season back. By one of, Khan means either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. However, Khan noted that until either of them are signed, all other options are on the table.
“You know, I think ideally, I think like to sign one of the guys that we had last year,” Khan said. “But the reality is they’re both free agents, so until we get one of those guys under contract, you know, all options are on the table.”
By options, Khan means a veteran from another team via free agency or a trade. Guys like the New York Jets Aaron Rodgers or the Los Angeles Rams Matthew Stafford.
