The Pittsburgh Steelers only have to make it through one more game without one of their playmakers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without speedy wide receiver Calvin Austin III when they face the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. However, the Steelers’ Week 7 game looks like it will be their last with Austin sidelined.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, while Austin is in line to miss his second game in a row with a shoulder injury, Pittsburgh is expecting to have him back for its Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

That doesn’t help the Steelers’ chances against the Bengals this week, but it will certainly be a big boost for them when he finally returns.

Austin has played a key role in Pittsburgh’s offense, doing his best to help fill the void wide receiver George Pickens left when he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. Through the first four games of the season, Austin recorded 10 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns.

However, Austin exited the team’s Week 4 win over the Minnesota Vikings with a shoulder injury and his timeline to return has been unclear since.

Austin wasn’t even sure when he was going to be able to get back on the field ahead of the Steelers’ Week 6 matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

“I have no clue about that,” Austin said. “I’m just taking it a day at a time, listening to the medical staff, Coach T., and whenever that time is, I’ll be ready.”

It wasn’t the update many fans were hoping to hear, but Austin seems to have finally turned a corner, and good thing, because Pittsburgh is going to need him against a talented Packers team next week.

A fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Austin has recorded 63 receptions for 867 yards and seven touchdowns in his professional career.
