The Pittsburgh Steelers got good news on the status of Pro Bowl defensive back Jalen Ramsey on Saturday, upgrading his injury designation for Sunday’s Week 17 contest against the Cleveland Browns.

Ramsey missed the team’s Thursday and Friday practice sessions at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex and was initially given a questionable designation for Sunday’s potential AFC North clincher in Cleveland.

But after the team’s walkthrough on Saturday, Ramsey was given a clean bill of heath and no injury status for the game.

There’s a good chance that Ramsey, who made the Pro Bowl in his first season as a free safety, could be playing slot cornerback in this game. Usual slot cornerback Brandin Echols (groin) and starting outside cornerback James Pierre (calf) have both been ruled out. Asante Samuel Jr. will likely replace Pierre once again, leaving Ramsey to return to the slot to replace Echols.

Newly acquired Tre Flowers and practice squadders Daryl Porter Jr. and D’Shawn Jamison are also options to play for the Steelers this week. Porter made his NFL debut last week.
