The Pittsburgh Steelers are letting out a sigh about one of their injured cornerbacks.
The Pittsburgh Steelers saw several of their cornerbacks go down with injury during their 24-21 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. Veteran Brandin Echols was among those who suffered an injury, but it doesn’t seem to be too serious.
According to Nick Farabaugh of PennLive, Echols is considered to be OK and there’s no concern about his health status moving forward after going down with cramps late in the fourth quarter.
Steelers CB Brandin Echols is OK and there's no concern about him going forward. He just had really bad cramping in his calves.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed just that after the game.
“Brandin Echols had cramps,” he said. “You know, we were leaking a little bit in the secondary coming into the game without Joey Porter. But such is life.”

It’s great news given the current state of Pittsburgh’s cornerback room. Joey Porter Jr. was already sidelined against the Vikings with a hamstring injury he suffered during the team’s Week 1 game against the New York Jets. Veteran Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay also both went down on Sunday.
The Steelers immediately felt the absence of Echols, among others.
On the next play after Echols left the game, Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz connected with wide receiver Jordan Addison for an 81-yard gain. Four plays later, Wentz found wide receiver Jalen Nailor for a two-yard touchdown to cut Pittsburgh’s lead to 24-21.
Echols also had a key interception and game-sealing tackle in the Steelers’ 21-14 win over the New England Patriots last Sunday. Echols signed with the Steelers this offseason after playing his first four seasons with the Jets.
Luckily, Pittsburgh is heading into its bye week, so the team will have an extra week to get healthy for when it hosts the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.
