PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III seems to have escaped unscathed from a late-week injury scare.
Austin suffered a calf injury during the team’s indoor practice at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Friday afternoon, putting his status for Monday’s Week 15 home date with the Miami Dolphins in jeopardy.
But Austin was a full participant in the team’s Saturday practice at Acrisure Stadium, and he does not have an injury status for Monday night’s game.
The Steelers may still need to make an adjustment at the wide receiver position. Ben Skowronek is dealing with a hand injury, was practicing with a cast, and could be limited to special teams duties.
Last week, the club called Marquez Valdes-Scantling up from the practice squad and scratched Roman Wilson. With Andrus Peat ruled out, they will need to call up an offensive lineman, and they may need reinforcements at outside linebacker and cornerback to replace T.J. Watt and James Pierre, which could keep the team from calling MVS up again this week. Teams can only elevate two players from the practice squad per week.
