Behind the Steel Curtain
Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:
Football is almost back, folks! The first public practice fans can attend at St. Vincent College in Latrobe is on Wednesday, July 29. Is anybody here able to make it to a practice this year?
Does anybody have any fun memories/stories from attending previous training camps they’d like to share?
Training camp has 14 public practices. What’s something in your life that you wish you had 14 days to practice and prepare for before doing it for real?
Two quick updates on some things I’ve previously posted about. First, I just grilled country-style ribs for the first time, and not to brag, but they turned out incredibly well. We made a Dr. Pepper sauce and added some chipotle peppers to give it a little extra kick, then grilled it for about 4.5 hours. It was delicious! If you have any recipes or suggestions for what I should try to tackle next, I’m all ears.
Next, I’ve got tickets to see The Odyssey in 70mm. Has anyone here seen it? Secondly, this got me thinking about movies in general, and as this is a football website, I was curious what you think the best football movie of all time is? I’ll list some off, but let’s have an impromptu vote/ranking in the comments. I’ll keep it simple and count the number of times a movie is mentioned in the comments. You can comment multiple movies, but I’ll only count one comment per user, so no stuffing the ballot. Here are some of the football movies I can think of (we’re excluding documentaries) off the top of my head if you need some help remembering some, but feel free to vote for one not on this list:
Song of the Night:
“Always Alright” – The Alabama Shakes
No real reason behind the selection; the song is just always a vibe.
