Well everyone, we’ve made it. The Steelers’ season begins on Sunday when they face the New York Jets. Ahead of that, let’s get through this week’s brief mailbag, which comes from you, our readers.
Q: What do you think Kaleb Johnson needs to do to move up the RB depth chart? Najee obviously played early and often in year one, so there must be part of Kaleb’s game holding him back. – NAS204PSU
A: I’m genuinely not worried about the depth chart thing. The Steelers are always weird about rookies, and Tomlin will give some word salad Tomlinism answer if asked about it. I’d expect Johnson to get somewhere between 5-8 carries on Sunday.
Q: If asst. GM Cam Heyward doesn’t suit up to play this weekend, should the Great Khan release him? – Fe Citys Boss
A: There’s a zero percent chance they’d just cut Heyward. Should they trade him, though? I’d say yes. But we all know they won’t do that.
Q: On the latest Steelers injury report that I read, I noticed that Derrick Harmon did not practice at all. Is he still on schedule to return in week two or has that timeline been pushed back now? – SteelerSince73!
A: He’s not playing this week, so that’s why he’s not practicing. We’ll see what next week brings.
