PITTSBURGH — While new to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sebastian Joseph-Day is no stranger to the National Football League. A sixth-round draft pick in 2018, the veteran defensive tackle has sculpted a solid career for himself, having had stops with four teams before joining Mike McCarthy’s team on a two-year deal this offseason.
The Super Bowl LVI champion, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 310 pounds, said after signing that he takes pride in “being that guy to do whatever you need me to do.”
Steelers defensive line coach Domata Peko, who during his 15-year playing career battled for 12 campaigns in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, believes Joseph-Day is keeping true to his word.
“I just remember watching him over the years, man,” Peko said recently. “Whenever you have a guy that (has) played for nine years, 10 years in the league, he’s doing something right. And the thing that he does right, he’s super consistent, and he’s definitely a tool that we’re gonna be using this year, because he plays it all. He plays D-end, he plays D-tackle and he plays nose.
“And he’s been playing some good ball. He was part of that Super Bowl run that (the Los Angeles Rams) had with Aaron Donald back in the day. He’s played in some big games, and having a vet like that — someone that comes in the building every day ready to work — the young guys are gonna follow that.”
Derrick Harmon, the Steelers’ first-round pick in 2025, said Joseph-Day arrived ready to share his know-how.
“He’s a vet, so he’s been around the park a few times,” Harmon said. “He’s bringing good things to that room.”
Joseph-Day has appeared in 105 career games, stacking up 15.5 sacks and 314 combined tackles.
