he Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly among the top contenders to land star wide receiver Terry McLaurin, according to odds posted by SportsBetting.com.
The site lists Pittsburgh with the fifth-best odds at +800 to acquire the Commanders standout, trailing only the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.
McLaurin is currently involved in a contract dispute with Washington, seeking a new deal that would place him among the league’s highest-paid receivers. While some might scoff at the price tag, McLaurin’s production speaks for itself. The 29-year-old has topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of the past five seasons, despite inconsistent quarterback play and frequent coaching changes in Washington.
If the Steelers were to acquire McLaurin, it would mark yet another aggressive move in a recent string of bold decisions under general manager Omar Khan. Wide receiver remains one of the few question marks on an otherwise loaded roster. Last offseason, the team pursued Brandon Aiyuk but failed to close a deal. They eventually traded for DK Metcalf, giving fans hope that a pairing with George Pickens would form one of the league’s most dangerous receiving duos.
However, after dealing Pickens earlier this offseason, the Steelers are once again in search of a complementary boundary receiver. While speedy options like Calvin Austin III and rookie Roman Wilson offer promise, both are better suited for the slot than as true outside threats. McLaurin’s arrival would provide a polished, reliable option opposite Metcalf, helping to restore balance to the receiving corps and give quarterback Aaron Rodgers a full arsenal heading into 2025.
Pittsburgh’s front office has made it clear that the window to compete is open now. The additions of Metcalf and All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey last season signaled a win-now mentality. Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, has hinted that this could be his final season. The urgency to surround him with elite talent is clear.
If the Steelers are truly committed to contending for a Super Bowl in 2025, acquiring McLaurin would be a fitting final piece to a roster built with championship expectations.
