The Steelers have elevated Trey Sermon to the active/inactive roster from the practice squad ahead of Pittsburgh’s Week 4 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, the team announced on Saturday.

Sermon will revert back to the practice squad following the game.

It’s the second straight week Sermon has been elevated; against the Patriots he appeared on three kickoff returns.

Sermon has replaced Steelers third-round rookie running back Kaleb Johnson in that role following the latter’s early-season mistakes on special teams. However, Johnson was not an inactive last week despite not appearing for a single snap.

Steelers starting running back Jaylen Warren is dealing with a knee injury and has a questionable designation for Sunday’s game, even if he’s expected to play per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. If Warren’s injury limits him at all, it could lead to larger roles for his backups Kenneth Gainwell, Johnson, or even Sermon.

The Steelers and Vikings kick off in Dublin at 9:30 EST on NFL Network Sunday.
