Along with elevating wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated offensive tackle Dylan Cook from the practice squad to the active/inactive roster for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Steelers are hindered at the offensive tackle position with starting left tackle Broderick Jones (neck) on inured reserve and Calvin Anderson suffering a knee injury.
Anderson was listed as limited at Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury. He had played during the team’s Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but appeared in just one snap of special teams — the Steelers’ only scrimmage kick, when Chris Boswell drilled a first-half extra point to give the team an early lead. He did not appear to suffer any obvious injury on that play, and it’s unclear when he was injured. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention Anderson in his injury rundown either after the game or on Tuesday at his weekly press conference.
Veteran guard/tackle Andrus Peat moved to left tackle to replace Jones, and is expected to start there again this week. Cook will serve as the swing tackle.
Cook was signed by the Steelers at the very beginning of OTAs in 2023 after spending the 2022 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He impressed with the Steelers, and made the team’s 53-man roster as the No. 4 tackle. He spent the entire 2023 season on the active roster, but was dressed for one game, with the Steelers have excellent health along their line last year.
Cook was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 27, 2024. He was released on Oct. 31, but was re-signed to the practice squad on November 4. He signed a reserve/future contract in January of 2025.
Cook was waived by the Steelers on August 26, 2025, and re-signed to the practice squad. Cook has yet to play in an NFL game
