Three months separate the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets from their regular-season opener against one another. The industry that never sleeps has already released betting odds on the matchup, and they lean towards Mike Tomlin’s team starting on the right foot.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers are three-point favorites (+110 odds) and are -156 on the money line. The Jets are +132 in the latter regard, while the over/under is set at 39.5 points.

Almost certainly, the hosts will trot out former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields as their starter after showering him with a two-year, $40 million free agent deal in March. They invested the No. 7 overall pick in last month’s 2025 NFL Draft to protect him, adding Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou.

Meanwhile, the Steelers await former Jets passer Aaron Rodgers’ decision on whether he wants to play in Pittsburgh. For now, Tomlin’s team has a quarterback room consisting of retreads Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard, who led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a College Football Playoff national title last season.

The Steelers lead their all-time series with the Jets, 21-7. That record includes a pair of postseason clashes, one being the AFC Championship game after the 2010 season. Since then, the Jets haven’t reached the playoffs. Counting last season’s interim, they’ve cycled through five head coaches — Todd Bowles, Adam Gase, Robert Saleh, Jeff Ulbrich, and now Aaron Glenn.

Much like last season, the Steelers will need to rack up wins early on to provide a cushion for a tough gauntlet down the stretch. Doing so will start at the Meadowlands against a familiar face.
